hei, moi. They are the Finnish greeting words.
“heimoi” is a weird word combination for Finns- Finns don’t see these two words together. In Finnish, “hei” and “moi” are interchangeably used for greeting and saying goodbye. People don’t use both at the same time, it’s like saying “hello, goodbye”.

Ironically, the very first time I openly advertise this heimoi project which I’ve been hanging on for 9 months, is also the time I say goodbye to it.
I never felt ready to advertise the heimoi.com or heimoi blog in any of my personal channels, even though I did spare some sweat to write a few blog posts about globalization, localization and world city competition.
Hello world!
Goodbye.
Letting go the darling is never easy.
But I think I have killed my darling already long time ago, when I couldn’t have had clear vision for the product development, hence dropped my leadership in the project direction. In the end it doesn’t feel mine any more.
So I decided to stay inactive for now.
Luckily my partner Jussi Vaihia is still willing to work on it. We are both visionary founders – in the past 9-month we had good fight and inspiring chat – sadly not all visions match.

Comment: the first poster-gal I composed (above) still looks a bit stiff, regarding the drawing technique. I’m more satisfied with the latter (the flyer on top) when I can control the lines more fluently. Drawing practice is just one of the many gains during the 9 months of endurance.
It is a sad story to let go, but then again I believe heimoi will move on and prosper, driven by a focused lead.
Yep call me optimist. I don’t see it as a failure. 99% startups fail. But heimoi survived for 9 months, now is expecting the due. I’m glad I sowed the seed. I’m more than glad that Jussi is watering it, even if the flower may not blossom into the one I was longing.
Thank you.
Hei, we are launching.
Moi, see you in cyberspace.
